Touring fix or fixed touring

As the first frame to come out of the shop, this bike deserves its own gallery. Inspired by the geometry of Squid’s SO-EZ tracklocross frame, but with added tire clearance, additional bottle and rack mounts, and a rear disc brake mount. The resulting build turned out be as much fun as I could hope for; light and fast when unloaded, but steady and comfortable on longer rides.

I approached this project with several goals in mind. First I wanted a fairly straightforward design overall as this was my first time using my own frame jig. Secondly I wanted to design the frame with certain components in mind and to have fairly low tolerance for extra space, especially in the chain stays where I wanted to maximize the tire clearance without having to use a small front chainring. And finally I wanted the seat stays to be symmetrical, which was not the case with the frame I had built in my frame building class.
